Do you think it was a good move making P2P Private?

Well here we are a few weeks down the line and im pleased to say that lots of you have chosen to pay the £5 and upgrade.
Do you think it was a good move? Do you feel the atmosphere has improved or maybe you feel you was forced into paying and it is unfair for some who cannot afford it?
I want a good adult, honest debate girls here.
The situation will not change but if there are greivances lets get it all out and see if we can work through them

I do think that it was a good idea, but I do worry that some of the new members may not join as they dont really know the full extent of what there is to offer, cos they cannot access all of the forums.

I think it were a good idea, i've no greivences, each to there own if they decide to upgrade

Yeah, I've wondered that too, Ellie. For me, I think that anything that keeps us secure online is a good thing but I'm not sure if I'd have understood the full value of the site if I couldn't see all of it. It's a bit catch 22.

Perhaps new members could have full access for 1 week, then if they dont join as a full member they will have limited access.

Although that is probably impractical, just a thought that popped in to my head.

thats a good idea ellen, i like the fact that not just anyone browsing through can access & i think most people understand that there are running costs involved & for us all to carry on enjoying the site as much as we do £5 a yr is good value for money

i was a bit lost at first but loving it!! always have but defo alot better now!!

I think that its good that we're a secure site and £5 isn't a huge amount to pay, but like Ellen says a bit worried that new members will be put off as they can't see everything available to them.

Honestly, no I don't. I've told a few people to join up and given them the site address, but they've said no as they don't want to pay to socialise online, so that's my reason. I had already paid so didn't miss out on anything but if I hadn't already subscribed and the situation had changed I wouldn't have paid and probably would have left.

Maybe if they could see everything apart from the full members area for a week, and let them get a feel for the site

honestly from me to, no i dont think it was a good move making the site mostly subscribing, because i did think it would put new members off subscibing and that the regulars may become bored with each other day in day out, or if a squabble happens, it could become a bit tense.

I think new members are so important to keep the freshness in the forum, so you are not just saying the same old stuff over and over

I like the fact of it being secure and i didnt midn at all about the fiver as once i became a full member the work the ladies put in to keep it a great fun site is worth it!

From a security aspect, it was a great idea, but as max says it may stop people from joining because they dont know what to expect and so dont want to pay, in my mind though- thats up to them. I prefer it so you have to pay

I agree with whats been said. I was happy to subscribe but then i had been a member for a good few months so i knew what the site had to offer and i was familiar with the regular members I do think it will put off many new members from joining and it would be good it they could have more access for a limited amount of time. I do realise this may be impractical though.
Its good there are lots of full members though not just handful, conversation shouldnt run out anytime soon!!
Overall i think its an improvement and i think the changes are great in terms of security and privacy.
Its nice to know that posts we make are private to members and pictures of our children and families are also private, not available for anyone on the internet who just wants to browse!!
so yeah.. all in all a good move i think.

how about a weekly competition of some kind, with the prize entry to the supporters for a bit, that might get the normal members more active and also encourage them to sign up when their prize runs out?
