How do you feel about tipping?
When you go for a meal do you see it as compulsory to leave a 10% tip?? I will only leave a tip if I think the service warrants it!
I dont tip hairdressers, cab drivers or anyone else except the little man who delivers my take away and that a £1
Am I wrong?

Re: How do you feel about tipping?
i think its up to the indivuals.
i tip everyone
i think i should maybe stop it, as Stephen goes crazy.
The thing that worries me tho, is if iots a restaurant and i dont tip, the next time i go they might do something to my food.
Also i was a waitress for a while and the pay is shocking!! I relied on my tips.
xx

Re: How do you feel about tipping?
Ali, i only tip if i'm in a good mood, normally round it off to the nearest £1, otherwise i'm a bit of a c*w and wait for my change

Re: How do you feel about tipping?
i usually tip taxi drivers but only round it off to the nearest pound. i sometimes tip in restaurants but thats all
Re: How do you feel about tipping?
im the same i usually tip taxi driver to the nearest pound same with delivery drivers, but cos i am in the beauty industry i know the average tip is around £2 - £5 so always tip £5 for them, i always get better treatment the next time i am in
Re: How do you feel about tipping?
I just dont understand why we feel we have to give 10% to waiting staff! We went for a meal recently that came to £170 and the rest of the party were like well round it up to £190 with the tip
I know the pay is bad but that doesnt mean the customer should make up their wage should we? I mean surely the cost of waiting staff is taken into account when they price the menu??
Imagine if you went to asda to get your weeks shop and when you paid were expected tip the checkout staff 10%

Simon used to drive private hire at a weekend, most he's made in tips was £140 for 1 night on a 8-10hr shift

Re: How do you feel about tipping?
We tend to always tip TBH. Taxi drivers and take away I normally round up to the nearest pound but then if its only like 20p I add another £1 on!!
Restaurants is always 10%, but only if they have been good/food good etc. My mum has a different opinion and doesnt always leave that much.
Ali, you are totally right though about Asda comparison. x

Re: How do you feel about tipping?
I used to be a waitress and tips really do make up your wage, waitressing is hard work!!! I tip what i think thier service was worth, ie, fab sevice the full 10% poor service 0%i do not let the food play a part in this though cause its not the waitresses fault. I dont tip in places where the tips are pooled either
Re: How do you feel about tipping?
i dont tip i only tip the take away man beacuse when he comes he likes matilda as he has a daughter same age and he puts in some free food and colouring stuff for matilda and i think thats nice
we did go out for a meal a while ago and when we came to pay with the chip and pin the guy said when he handed the machine if you wish to make a tip of 10% press green if not press red!!how cheeky was that i dont see why we should have to tip if the wages are so por then get a better job!!! things cost enough as it is without paying tips

Re: How do you feel about tipping?
I only tip if the service is good at a resturant. I always tip our local takeaway delivery man as he but it is normally only a £1.
