Immigrants

Im putting my neck on the line here but can I ask if anyone else feels we are just letting in toooooo many immigrants?
It wouldnt be so bad but half of them cant even speak English! I totally disagree with all these signs you see everywhere in about 5 different languages! In Canada and many other countries if you cant speak the native language you are not allowed to emigrate there!
Not only do we let them in we print everything in 5 languages to accomodate them rather than make them learn English.
Also How do you feel about when the rules are changed to accomodate other religions? for example in the army when men are allowed to not wear the protective helmets if they wear a turban I mean a turban isnt going to protect you is it?
I am not racist but I do think weve gone a bit bonkers in the UK!

I agree 100% Ali. What really topped it for me was last year when England were playing in the World Cup, & we were all told to take down our St George Cross flags as they offended the people who aren't English! Now wtf was all that about? If you dont wanna see/speak/live with English culture.. dont damn well come & live in England!

I could really get going & go on about how much money the NHS is spending on interpreters.. but i wont.

Dont get me started on this, nottingham is becoming over-run with polish, czech's etc and it's frustrating! i'm not racist either but they've come over here taken all our jobs, homes and who knows what else.

The government want a good hard kick up the arse!!!

I agree, Liverpool is the same, Its sad as they do get looked after and benefitted more than we do!

I agree our town is full of Polish, Portuguese, you name it they are here. Me and my OH are on the list for renting council properties but we are only in silver band so really have hardly any chance of getting placed but it seems that when immigrants move here they get placed straight away, how is that fair

The problem is ladies - the do gooders - they've made it so English people are second class citizens. And the thing is - we are too damned cowardly to do a thing about it. You will see immigrants forming their own communities separated from us and they STICK TOGETHER. We just fight each other or don't communicate at all. Whatever happened to community? My OH sayd when he was a little one they used to set up tea parties in the street and everyone would know each other. Now its like people don't care or just can't be bothered to make an effort.
We are not allowed to be british. I am NOT racist - I had a best friend at school who was arab. But it makes me so bloody mad - I was made homeless when I was six months pregnant and had to live in horrible accomodation at the top of 3 flights of steep stairs. I found myself wondering that were I not British - would I have gotten a place any sooner - probably - but that is 'dangerous ground'. Whatever - I have the right to be british and proud of it. I dismay at the lack of community spirit our natives show.

I don't think it's a case of not showing community togetherness, i think if we said anything you'd have the P.C crowd after you quicker than you could say immigrants!!

Everyone has their right to say what and how they feel - thats why there's such a thing as freedom of speech or so theres meant to be.

Your probably right maybe if you weren't british things would of been different. I know the nottingham council have given nearly every polish family etc new homes and even got them free driving lessons and given them cars - i don;t pay tax for them to be given free hand outs!!

ahhh immigrants. I dotn get them. If i was off to some other place to live, like say...pakistan...i would not go there expecting to carry on with my cultural ways, i would go there expecting to learn theirs. Why on earth does the government have to make all these allowances for these foreigners, why cant they just learn to live and act as we do. Inverness is now full of polish...a place i never actually thought foreigners would bother with, to live in, after all it is freezing up here. I think the government needs to be taking a good hard look at its policies toward immigration. That was polite wasnt it?!

I agree. In some cases you do get immigrants who have come over and work very hard for their living but i disagree with them coming over here, getting accomodation and claiming benefits for themselves and their children. Thats our tax money going in to the british gov and it's paying for every nationality under the sun at the moment!

its too easy for them to set up home get benefits ect i'm not against people going to a different country & working to provide for them selves, my neighbours bf is from ghana & is a teacher, he came over here, re-trained (funded by himself) & works full time & doesn't claim anything from the govenment, around lincoln the male imagrant population walk around in pairs & i find it very intimidating, my sis in law is canadian & shes worked hard in he job to provide for her family. in the news recently i heard that polish imagrants are claiming benefits for their kids that don't even live in this country!! if we did that we'd be locked up. i'm not racist but british people should get the help they deserve before imagrants do
